[2025 Open House] SHHH Woodwind Quintet & Duck Teacher - Hansel and Gretel
►[House Program][2025 Open House]SHHH Woodwind Quintet & Duck Teacher - Hansel and Gretel
German composer Engelbert HUMPERDINCK completed Hansel and Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel) in 1893, creating a beloved children's opera based on the GRIMM's Fairy Tales. The opera masterfully blends the rich orchestral colors of late Romanticism with the simplicity of traditional German folk melodies, making it one of the most beloved operatic works for audiences of all ages.
This adaptation for woodwind quintet and narrator brings the enchanting story to life through the warm timbres and expressive qualities of wind instruments. Accompanied by a storytelling narrator, the quintet recreates the opera's most iconic melodies, immersing the audience in the magical world of Hansel and Gretel.
